Some random questions about Russian society? (:?
1. How bad is racism in Russia? I keep hearing about skinheads and stuff. Like, how would an African-American or Asian-American be treated over there?
2. Is homosexuality (gay marriage, etc.) accepted? Of course, there are gay people in Russia, but are they looked down upon? Do majority of people like them?
3. Are Russian girls really THAT beautiful? I've met some in America and theyre not ugly, but theyre not like Megan Fox or anything...I keep hearing this stereotype lol.
4. How do Russians dress? What would be unacceptable to wear in public?
5. And lastly, is it rude to sit on the grass, concrete, etc.? (random haha)

1. Racism exists, but it's more concentrated on migrants from ex-USSR countries, esp people from Caucasus and Middle Asia. If you are a foreigner, no need to worry if you follow rules traditional for Russian society.
2. Homosexuality is usually not accepted and is considered a sin by Russian Orthodox church and a disease by ordinary people. Gay marriages are forbidden. There are of course some Russian celebrities who have "gay" reputation, but people mostly laugh at them and their behaviour.
3. Russian girls are different like everywhere else in the world, some are beautiful, some not but mostly they are average or just pretty. Extraordinary beauty of Russians is a popular stereotype in the West. Our women just take care about their look.
4. Our way to dress is not that different from the European one. Russians wear less often sport and casual clothes and use more make-up though.
5. To sit on a grass is not rude, it's just not in the tradition because in our cold climate you can easily catch cold and besides our sidewalks, roads, concrete, grass etc are often dirty so you''ll just spoil your clothes.
